The Jardinii Arowana, a species of freshwater fish, can live for ten to twenty years in captivity, but in the wild, they can reach up to 50 years depending on the species. They can grow up to two feet in captivity, whereas in their natural habitat, they can grow up to three feet, reaching their maximum growth point in about a year and a half. A high-protein diet is necessary for their growth, with a rate of approximately two inches per month. Raising a Jardini Arowana requires preparation and commitment, as they are a long-term companion that can reach the size of a toddler.

KanaPlex™ is a blended kanamycin based medication that safely and effectively treats several fungal, and bacterial fish diseases (dropsy, popeye, fin/tail rot, septicemia). Because it is absorbed by fish it is useful in treating internal infections in those situations where food is refused. It does not adversely affect the filter bed and is easily removed with carbon. When used in a medicated food mix, it is excellent for treating bacterial infections in tanks that contain invertebrates. For use in freshwater or marine aquaria.

Dosing in Water

Remove all invertebrates - these are extremely sensitive to medication. Turn off UV filters, ozone filters, and remove chemical filtration. Use 1 measure (included) per every 20 L (5 gallons). Repeat this dose every 48 hours to a maximum of 3 doses. In cases of severe infections, it is possible to carry out two rounds of treatment back-to-back. However, this should only be done if fish show no signs of stress at the end of the first round.

Dosing in Food

Feed the medicated food mix (recipe below) every day until the infection clears or up to 1 week. This medicated food can be refrigerated or frozen between feedings.

• 1 tbsp food (preferably pellets or frozen food)
• A few drops of water if using a dry food

To enhance palatability use with GarlicGuard™ or Entice™.

After Treating

When the treatment period is over, KanaPlex™ can easily be removed using activated filter carbon like MatrixCarbon™. It does not linger in the substrate or filter media of the tank.

Originating from the rivers of Southeastern Brazil (including the Tocantins), these fish are popular food and sport fish in their native range. The so-called ‘Spider’ variant is a selectively bred color form developed in Asia which can be distinguished by their intricate, spiderweb-like pattern of spots and lines as adults. Like all peacock bass, Cichla kelberi requires a very large aquarium and should only be kept by experienced hobbyists. They are powerful predators, and will eat any fish that can fit in their large mouths, so tankmates should be chosen with care.

The The Tiger King RB requires an aquarium of at least 20 gallons in size. It is a very peaceful fish and should be housed with tank mates of similar temperament. Though the Tiger King is a hardy fish tolerant of small changes in water parameters, care should be taken to keep water temperature, pH, and nutrient levels in check. This hardy and energetic fish makes an excellent fish for beginning hobbyists.

Guppies are relatively easy to breed even for the beginning aquarists. If you are interested in breeding guppies, the ideal aquarium should have a covering of floating plants and a breeding box to protect the fry. Adults may eat the fry if left to fend for themselves without the breeding box. The fry should be fed brine shrimp, micro food and pulverized flakes.

The Tiger King RB is an omnivore and requires both algae-based foods as well as meaty foods. An algae-based flake food, along with freeze-dried bloodworms, tubifex, and brine shrimp will provide guppies with the proper nutrition.
