The Featherfin Catfish (Synodontis Euptera) is a species of catfish of the Mochokidae family, originally found in rivers and lakes of Central Africa, such as the White Nile river. These rivers have a rocky bottom, with an abundance of driftwood, large roots, and crevices, perfect for the Featherfin Catfish to hide from predators and scavenge for food.
The Synodontis Euptera is known as the Featherfin Squeaker for its unique sound-producing abilities. The squeaking is accomplished by rubbing the spines of its pectoral fins into grooves on its shoulders – the sound is a defense mechanism against predators and competing Featherfins during mating season. It is also a way of communicating with one another in dark places, caves, and around the driftwood. They may also be called Lace Cat or Synodontis Lace Catfish.
As for their appearance, you may encounter some that are pale gray with zebra-like stripes and others that are brown with black spots. The Featherfin Catfish changes its appearance over time. The zebra-like ones are juvenile, and the spotted ones have already matured.
The Red Tail Catfish is probably the most popular catfish in the aquarium trade. It is a beautiful monster fish, with the capability of growing to huge sizes. It is not an overly aggressive fish, but it will eat anything that fits in it’s mouth. Aquarium keepers should consider pairing with other large fish.
The South American Red-Tail Catfish is an exquisite fish to have. It will make a brilliant pet that requires more consideration and duty that a normal fish proprietor might be utilized to. This fish can develop about an inch for every week when they are youthful, and can in some cases develop to be around 24″ at a year old.
The Red-tail Catfish not under any condition meticulous about nourishments that will regularly eat out of their proprietor’s hands. Great quality pellet nourishments and bloodworms will offer these fish a fine life.
Datnoids are amazing fish that are gaining popularity in the hobby, although they are seldom seen.
These fish belong to the Datnioididae family and are found exclusively in the Asian countries of Indonesia, Southeast Asia, and New Guinea. Various types of Datnoids can live in freshwater, brackish conditions, or saltwater.
Some species of Datnoids, including Datnoides campbellis, or the New Guinea Tiger Perch, live in brackish swamps and estuaries. These fish can also survive for long periods in freshwater, although they need to return to marine or brackish environments.
The silver Arowana is a freshwater fish found in South America. Adults are a pearly silver color while juveniles have a blue glint. They have very large scales and a huge downturned mouth.
All wild catch silver Arowana will be keeping at city Tap water. 82-84F, PH: 7.4-7.6, TDS : 274-300
The AB AROWANA is a stunning and rare fish known for its striking albino coloration. With approximately 2% of AROWANAs being albino, this fish is a true treasure for collectors and enthusiasts. Its unique appearance adds a touch of exotic beauty to any aquarium, making it a perfect addition for those looking to add a rare and beautiful fish to their collection.
The Albino Silver Arowana has translucent red eyes and has very strong white blend with yellow and orange coloration making them more attractive and desirable as compared to the normal Silver Arowana, which is more pale white with dark eyes.
The Albino Silver Arowana or Osteoglossum bicirrhosum is part of the Osteoglossidae family. This is by far the most popular Arowana species in the fish keeping hobby. These freshwater fish are top swimmers and are commonly known as jumpers because when they reach adulthood they can stretch their long four feet bodies out of the water over 3 feet to catch dinner. A tightly secured cover is required as the AB Silver Arowana is known to jump. These carnivorous fish love a meaty diet consisting of shrimp, tilapia, jumbo bloodworms, and even carnivore pellets. In the wild, they can catch small fish and insects. These natural carnivores are known to eat practically any creature it can fit into its mouth. These fish may be placed in an aquarium in a group if introduced at the same time. Sometimes they claim territory over the tank and any new Arowanas might be bullied if they are smaller in size.
The Spotted Silver Dollar is known from the Rio Oyapock and the middle and upper Amazon River basin. Here, this gregarious species is observed in large shoals in the calmer sections of rivers where there is abundant marginal and overhanging riparian vegetation. This is a timid, but peaceful, shoaling species, juveniles of which will require an aquarium at least 3-4ft long. These fast-swimming fish grow very quickly and before long will require an aquarium measuring at least 5" x 18'" x 18'". They must have company of their own kind, and 6 specimens would be considered to be the minimum number to house together. Larger groups will help to make them feel much more secure. The aquarium itself should be sited in a quiet location where it does not receive a large amount of continual foot traffic going past. These are very skittish fish that are easily startled, so they must be provided with many shady hiding spots within the aquarium and some very tight fitting coverslides to prevent them from accidentally jumping out
The ZIG ZAG Eel Mastacembelus favus is one of the best known spiny eels. This fish owes its popularity not only to its color pattern, but also to a readily understood common name and its common availability. It has a large natural distribution and many variations to its color pattern, but most populations have the distinct 'tire track' or 'zig zag' type markings.
Although not considered to be true eels, the body shapes of all members of the spiny eel family, Mastacembelidae, are definitely eel-like. The ZIG ZAG Eel has an elongated body and a long snout. Its background color is tan to light brown with irregular 'tire track' like markings along the entire length of its body that reach from the top of its back down to its belly. It is also called Tiretrack Eel, Zig Zag Eel, and White Spotted Spinyeel.
Knifefish are a member of the Apteronotidae family and the speckled knifefish group. They are considered a true bony fish. They possess a weak electrical organ at the caudal peduncles which is used to locate food. They require excellent filtration for best results! This is a generally timid and reclusive fish, preferring a fine-gravel-bottom aquarium with plenty of roots and rocks for hiding places & subdued to dark lighting or tanks with many floating plants. Many hobbyists will purchase a “ghost tube,” which is merely a clear plastic tube that facilitates viewing during the day. Once accustomed to its surroundings, the Black Ghost Knifefish can become incredibly tame and trusting to the point of being hand-held! It does very well with other, larger species of a peaceful nature, but may be aggressive towards those of similar or smaller size.
Knifefish are carnivores and will eat all types of live foods, meat, chopped earthworms, as well as frozen and flaked foods.
